The Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club was founded in 1988 to provide a place in a central location for colleagues and the community to socialize and intellectualize over superb food and a casual atmosphere at the University of California San Diego. The Club offers a variety of desirable and inviting accommodations, including two distinct banquet venues, a landscaped courtyard, enclosed patio, and six private meeting rooms. The Faculty Club is able to accommodate various events including weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, holiday parties, birthday celebrations, retirement parties, and more. Janet Yellen took office on June 14, 2004 as president and chief executive officer of the Twelfth District Federal Reserve Bank, at San Francisco.

Dr. Yellen is professor emeritus at UC Berkeley where she was the Eugene E. and the Catherine M. Trefethen Professor of Business and Professor of Economics and has been a faculty member since 1980.

Dr. Yellen has served as a member of the of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserves System, the chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, and chair of the Economic Policy Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. She is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and she is an associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a member of the board of directors of the Pacific Council on International Policy.

Dr. Yellen graduated summa cum laude from Brown University, and received her Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 1971.

Dr. Yellen has written on a wide variety of macroeconomic issues, while specializing in the causes, mechanisms and implications of unemployment.
