“Freeman Dyson is renowned in science circles not only for his rigor and insight, but for his science-fiction imaginativeness and populist ethics.” Wired Magazine.
The New York Times Magazine writes “Dyson’s thoughts about how science works appear in a series of lucid, elegant books for nonspecialists that have made him a trusted arbiter of ideas ranging far beyond physics.” He has written more than a dozen books including Origins of Life, Disturbing the Universe, Weapons and Hope, Imagined Worlds, and The Scientist as a Rebel, displaying “such masterly control of complex matters that smart young people read him and want to be scientists, and older citizens finish his books and feel smart.”
Dyson cheerfully admits his record as a prophet is mixed, but “it is better to be wrong than to be vague.”
Freeman Dyson has spent the last 55 years at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. He has over 21 honorary degrees, and has received numerous awards including the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion.
